Online Pilot Action "Rent-A-Robot and Infrastructure Sharing" results

Success stories

From January - March 2020, the SYNERGY Project team was carrying out the Online Pilot Action "Rent-A-Robot / Infrastructure Sharing" bringing together infrastructure providers with potential infrastructure takers to develop joint infrastructure solutions in the thematic areas of Additive Manufacturing, Industry 4.0 and Micro-& Nanotechnology.

The winner of the Voucher is a match between Blue Danube Robotics and Salzburg Research GmbH

Infrastructure to Share: Airskin Evaluation Kit

Infrastructure Givers

Blue Danube Robotics:

Blue Danube Robotics focuses on safe human robot collaboration in mass production. The Austrian company produces safety solutions for Robots, Cobots and End-of-Arm-Tooling (EOAT). These make robots safe for humans and thus efficient for enterprises.

Infrastructure Takers:

Salzburg Research

Salzburg Research is an independent, innovation-driven research & technology organisation (RTO) in the area of information technologies (IT). The institute sees itself as a visionary thinktank, connecting networker and professional research partner. The research groups provide consulting in technical IT and innovation issues and conduct research and development in national and international research programmes, as well as contract research for industry.

Use Case enabled by the BDR Technology: We will equip our Panda Robot (by Franka Emica) with BlueDanube’s Airskin to experiment firstly, with robot teaching situations where the robot is taught by a human how to perform e.g. a picking and placing task; and secondly, with actual collaborative tasks where the human is within reach of the robot and where the airskin is an additional safety element on top of Panda’s own sensors and an external video-based collision avoidance mechanism.

Congratulation to the Winners
