Description
In the field of mobility, especially in e-mobility, a key challenge of the future is to further reduce the weight of the vehicles. Developments in recent years show that more and more load-bearing structures are being developed from thermoplastic parts and are being manufactured using the injection molding process. The force transmission into these parts is a special challenge. Metallic inserts are often integrated into the components for high-stress connecting elements. These inserts are expensive and not easy to design due to the different coefficients of thermal expansion. As part of the project, 3D embroidered reinforcement structures are to be developed which reinforce highly stressed areas in plastic components.
Benefits for supporters
Plastic parts in vehicles are seen as the primary target market. The partial, geometry-adapted reinforcement gives them significantly improved functional properties.
