IDEATION Innovation challenge: Hackathon BEST Hacks 2022 – SMART CITY CHALLENGE

Introduction

● In the United Arab Emirates, there is a city of Masdar, created only by engineers. Its urban traffic is based on electric capsules that move beneath the city's surface. The city is entirely powered by renewable energy sources. It is considered an example of the most intelligent city in the world with zero carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere.

● One of the main assumptions of smart cities of the future is, above all, high independence and self-sufficiency in the production of energy and food.

● With the development of the concept of Smart Cities, sharing has become noticeable - car sharing, bike sharing, scooter sharing, food sharing.

Smart City is a city whose one of the main goals is development. It is an urban concept that puts the greatest emphasis on increasing the interactivity, and efficiency of urban infrastructure, as well as raising the civil awareness of residents. For this purpose, broadly understood IT technologies are mainly used. Smart cities mean better organized infrastructure and a better living space for residents. It offers a high quality of life, while minimizing the use of resources, concerning not only the environment, but also economic, social and spatial aspects. Thanks to Smart City, life and numerous city services, such as administration, education, public safety and transport, become not only more accessible, but also more efficient.

There are many ways and ideas for better functioning of public space, and considering that Smart City is an area of operation, there will be even more of them. During this task, we will focus on three of Smart City's public activities. The task will be to create a solution that clearly fits into at least one of them:

1. Communication - that is, inter alia, integrated logistics systems and IT infrastructure as well as sustainable public transport. The communication solution should ensure the improvement of moving around the city (e.g. shortening travel time, reducing pollution or facilitating accessibility for people with disabilities).

2. Environment - focusing on ecological awareness and climatic conditions, placing great emphasis on sustainable resource management. The solution you will create should reduce the consumption of natural resources and energy in the city.

3. Safety of citizens - a smart city being the center of social life is not devoid of various threats. By choosing this category, we would like you to focus in a special way on the safety of its inhabitants. A solution in this category should increase the safety of citizens in urban space.

The way of completing the competition task is free - you can create a website, a desktop application, a mobile application or an IoT solution. However, if you have a completely different idea to solve the problem, that's perfectly fine! The technologies and how you use them are entirely up to you.
