Description
LSE GmbH development a novel type IV pressure vessel designed with carbon fibre reinforced polymer and a thermoplastic liner for the mobile storage of compressed hydrogen (CGH2, up to 700 bar). With the toroidal design and its new manufacturing technology, LSE is taking an alternative path with a large mass saving potential (up to 30%) and the associated resource-saving and cost-reduced production compared to market available solutions. Field of application are fuel cell powered cars, busses, trucks, airplanes and trains. The current situation of the funded research project is the manufacturing of prototypes followed by experimental burst tests. For the end of 2021 the startt of a small series production with max. 200 pieces of the toroidal pressure vessel is planned. This vessel have capacity of 1.4 kg CGH2 and the application is the storage of hydrogen for a fuel cell operated mobile power generator of FAE Elektrotechnik GmbH & Co. KG with 5 kW constant electrical output.
Benefits for supporters
- storage of clean energy (hydrogen, fuel cells) - resource-saving and cost-reduced production compared to market available solutions offers high market chances for novel product - large mass saving potential (up to 30%) is interessting for all transport sectors
